Artifex Machina is the quarterly publication of artist Jason M. Allen—an archive of projects, experiments, observations, and ideas emerging from the evolving relationship between human creativity and the machine.

What Is Artifex Machina?
Artifex Machina is the quarterly publication of artist Jason M. Allen.
Part catalog.
Part journal.
Part laboratory.
Part archive.
It exists to document the continuing dialogue between human imagination and artificial intelligence.
Every issue explores new projects, new ideas, new observations, and new worlds emerging from that relationship.
Some issues may focus on Space Opera Theater.
Others may reveal Prefactual Art, Liminal Latent Space, [redacted], [redacted], future exhibitions, experimental concepts, or entirely new creative directions.
Artifex Machina is not about a single project.
It is about following ideas wherever they lead.

The Prefactualists Covenant
As a member of the Prefactual Club, you are entrusted with a unique promise from the artist. Each member receives a personally signed Prefactualist’s Covenant. This covenant affirms that the Prefactual works delivered to that member will never be disclosed by the artist. These creations are yours alone, never to be shared with the public, never to be exhibited, and never to become part of the public archive. They are a private dialogue between observer and creator, a relationship that cannot exist anywhere else, a relationship made possible only through Prefactual observation. Four times each year, a small number of people become the first and only observers of works that will remain permanently outside public view.
In doing so, they become the Primus Ultimus.
The First and the Last.
Why This Exists
For years, I have explored the relationship between imagination, observation, authorship, and artificial intelligence.
That exploration has produced artworks, exhibitions, publications, legal challenges, philosophical frameworks, musical projects, and ideas that continue to evolve in unexpected directions.
Artifex Machina exists because these stories are still being written, these journeys are still being explored, these futures are still unknown.
Every project, exhibition, publication, experiment, and observation becomes part of an ongoing exploration into what is possible when human imagination meets the machine.
This is where those discoveries are shared. This is where everything lives.
